FAQ

How much does it cost to have my taxes prepared?

Tax preparation fees are determined by the amount of tax forms needed to complete an individuals return. We pride ourselves on being lower than our competitors because we are privately owned and not a franchise. Please call or visit one of our locations for a quote.

What information should I bring to file my taxes?

An unexpired indentification card that dispalys ones legal name(s),birthdate, Social Security or ITIN for each family member over the age of 17.  You will also need to collect and report all forms of income given to you by employers you worked for in the current year being filed. The most common forms an employee or contractor receives are W2's & 1099-Misc. If you are dedcieding use deductions youll need to bring reciepts such as donations, medical expenses, student loans, college tuition.

What is th PATH Act and how will it affect my tax refund?

The PATH Act was introduced to ensure that all Americans are provided with the correct refund from the IRS by extending expired tax laws and introducing new laws to reduce fraud. There is no change in the tax filing process due to the PATH Act, and in most cases, the IRS expects to send refund checks within 21 days, as it did in prior years. However, if you file an Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) return early in the year, the IRS will hold your refund check until February 15, 2017. This means that you might not end up receiving your refund until late February.

What is the Standard Deduction and how much is the Standard Deduction for 2019?

The standard deduction, as defined under United States tax law, is a dollar amount that non-itemizers may subtract from their income and is based upon filing status. It is available to US citizens and resident aliens (for tax purposes) who are individuals, married persons, and heads of household and increases every year.  You can calculate your standard deduction using the IRS calculating tool.

When is the tax deadline to file?

The IRS has April 15th of every tax year as the deadline date to file your tax return. If you you need extra time to file, form 4868 (Application for Automatic Extension of Time To File U.S. Individual Income Tax Return) can give you up to 6 months to complete and file your tax return. The final deadline date with an extension will be October 15th.
